Elementary School Newsletter 9.5.2023

Dear Elementary School Families,

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend and that your families had time to relax together! It's remarkable how swiftly time flies, and we are thrilled to see our students settling into their routines with enthusiasm for learning as we enter our third week.

Arrival/Dismissal:

We want to extend our gratitude to each of you for your continued patience and understanding as we work together to navigate our new drop-off and dismissal procedures. Adjusting to these changes can be challenging, but your cooperation and support have been invaluable in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our students' arrival and departure. We are confident that with your ongoing collaboration, we will continue to make these processes as smooth as possible. A few things to note:

  • Our school day starts at 8:15 and your child is considered tardy at that time, however, we will continue to be flexible with tardies this week.

  • Please ensure you have a safe meet up spot with your students for dismissal if they are walkers.

  • Please remind your students to only cross at designated crosswalks stationed with staff.

  • Inappropriate behavior as students wait outside before or after school can result in walker privileges being revoked.

  • Please share any concerns you might have with Mrs. Smyth & Dr. Bright. We are continuing to meet as a leadership team with the other buildings to work out any arrival and dismissal issues.

Weekly Communication from Classroom Teachers:

We believe in fostering strong connections between our teachers and families. Weekly communication from our teachers is not just a practice; it's an expectation. We want to ensure that you stay well-informed about the exciting happenings in your child's classroom! We hope you have started receiving these weekly updates and please know we are allowing teachers to do this any whatever form feels best for them. Some might be sending home paper or electronic newsletters and some might just be sending updates via email.

Parent Involvement:

This year, we are placing a deliberate emphasis on parent involvement, recognizing its crucial role in our school community. We invite your ideas and engagement in shaping this initiative. Stay tuned for more information on how you can actively participate and contribute to making our elementary school an even more vibrant and inclusive place for our students and families. Together, we can make a significant impact on their educational journey!

  • Our first coffee chat with the principals is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20 from 8:15-9:00am. We will have a sign up sheet come out for that next week.
