Middle School Newsletter 10.31.2022
I have attempted to write this week's newsletter numerous times and I keep finding myself at a loss for words.
While we are all very aware that school violence is unfortunately a reality, it was still something that we all hoped and believed wouldn’t touch our lives. The tragedy at CVPA was incredibly jarring for our community. As unique individuals we will all process through this tragedy differently. However, to walk through this process alone would be incredibly difficult.
Our team met on Tuesday last week and during our time together we had the opportunity to lean on and support one another as we began to walk through our healing. This time together was so critically important, so that we were prepared for our students return on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning all students participated in a class meeting during their community class. This time spent together provided our students with an opportunity to begin their processing of the tragedy. It also provided them the chance to support one another and have an understanding that they aren’t walking through this alone.
As a mom, I know there is absolutely nothing more precious to me than my daughters. When I leave for work every morning I am trusting my daughter’s school to keep her safe (in every way possible) while I am not with her. Many of you have had the opportunity to meet with me individually or in a group setting and have heard me say, “There is nothing more important to me than providing a safe environment for your child while they are here at school”. I want to reassure you that there is still nothing more important than just that. As a school we will continue to ensure that we have thorough safety procedures in place and continually review them as needed. Teachers and support staff are here to wrap around and support your child as needed.
As part of our community please know that we are not only here to support your child but also your family. If you have any questions, concerns or just need someone to talk with please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Kindly,
Kim
