Middle School Newsletter - November 15th, 2021
November kicks off the holiday season with high expectations for a cheerful and festive time of year. Around this time of year, I become reflective of the past year and all I have to be thankful for in my life. No one can argue that 2021 has been another incredibly challenging year. In fact, it would be so easy to simply count down the remaining days of this year without pause. It then occurred to me, if I indeed do this I will miss out on all the silver linings of 2021. So, in reflection here are my silver linings of 2021.
Last year, when we had to adjust to a hybrid model of teaching, our entire team made sure that every middle school student’s needs were being met. I don’t think words can properly describe how incredibly thankful I am for my team. They are more than teachers, counselors, and coaches. This group is made up of the most selfless, hardworking, inspiring, dedicated, and passionate individuals I have ever met. They go above and beyond to provide our students with the very best education.
This summer we spent hours upon hours planning for the fall. We knew we would be facing many challenges simply because the majority of our students had been out of school for 18 months. While this planning was exhausting at times it was equally exciting. Knowing that we were finally going to get to be back with our students brought us the hope that we all needed. The hope that we were making our way back to some sense of normalcy.
My final silver lining of 2021 is you and your children. Although this school year is unlike any other, there are still amazing things happening everyday. Students have participated in daily homebase meetings, innovative classes, individualized academic interventions, team sports and field experiences. What an honor and privilege it has been to be a part of these experiences. I have also had the opportunity to talk and meet with so many parents this year. These meetings and calls are by far some of the best parts of 2021.
I would like to thank you for your grace, understanding, and patience this year. Without your support we would not be able to do what we do everyday. I am hopeful each one of you will be able to find your silving linings of 2021. You might be pleasantly surprised at how many there really are once you start looking. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Kindly,
Kim

As we all work together to navigate our full return to in person learning this year, we would like to invite all of our families to provide feedback in the form of a short survey. You can complete the survey using the following link with the access code 8860041952. We have invited our students to provide feedback as well by completing a similar survey while at school. Thank you so much for taking a few minutes to complete this survey, your feedback is an invaluable part of our ongoing partnership.
