Elementary School Newsletter 9.11.2023
Dear Elementary Families,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend! We are looking forward to a great week ahead filled with beautiful weather and lots of learning. We appreciate your continued support and time reading our weekly newsletters and hope you find them helpful in keeping you informed.
Drop Off Reminder:
Now that we are a few weeks into the school year, we wanted to reiterate that our morning drop off process does not begin until 8:00 am. Our morning duty staff are not outside to supervise drop off until 8:00 am. In the interest of student safety, please do not leave your child(ren) unsupervised before morning duty begins.
We recently revised our late pick up policy because of an increase in students being picked up after our dismissal ends at 3:35. We also have a significant number of unsupervised children in the morning and would like to avoid an additional revision of our drop off/pick up policy. We appreciate your support in this matter as we work to keep all of our students safe.
Coffee & Tea With the Principals:
We look forward to connecting with those of you that plan to come to our coffee/tea with the principals on September 20th from 8:15-9:00am. As mentioned before, we are placing a deliberate emphasis on parent involvement this year and are eager to see what we can accomplish together. We hope to connect with you, hear your ideas, and just spend time getting to know some parents on a deeper level. Please sign up here so that we know how many parents to plan for.
Snapshot of Specials Classes:
We wanted to take some time to highlight the amazing specials that your students get to experience throughout the school year. We are so fortunate to have unique specials and we sincerely hope your students enjoy the rich, learning opportunities these provide. Students will be in 1 special for several weeks before they rotate to a new special class. The only exception to this is PE, which they will get weekly.
Physical Education: In PE, our students engage in a wide range of activities aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and overall well-being. Your child will participate in various sports, games, and exercises that not only develop their physical skills but also foster important values such as sportsmanship, cooperation, and a lifelong love for physical activity.
Nature's Lab: At PCS, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom walls. In this class, your child will have the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, connect with the natural world, and develop essential life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and environmental stewardship. From observations to hands-on outdoor experiments, our Natureβs Lab special promises to ignite curiosity, spark a sense of adventure, and nurture a deep appreciation for our environment.
Music: Our music classes offer your child an exciting and creative outlet for self-expression and exploration. Students will spend time diving into the magic of melodies, rhythms, and harmonies and from singing and playing instruments to learning music theory and composition, our music program is sure to be a fun one! Beyond the notes and scales, music class cultivates essential skills like creativity, teamwork and a love of music!
Art: In our art class, students explore various mediums, from painting and drawing to sculpture, fostering self-expression and imaginative thinking. In art, your child will embark on a colorful journey, where they get to explore many different materials and create in a unique and safe environment. We are excited to support students in unleashing their artistic talents and inspire a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of the creative process.
Coding: In this program, students delve into the modern world of technology where they might be exploring anything from coding to robotics and digital tech. This special class is helping to equip students with essential 21st-century skills needed in life. Coding is a place where creativity meets innovation in the digital world!
