Elementary Newsletter September 12th 2022

I am always reflective on the anniversary of September 11, 2001. I reflect on its impact. I think about its continued significance. For our kids, it is history before their time. The day allows us to express gratitude and honor those that lost their lives that day.

Introduction

We have started off the year strong, and I have yet to say hello to so many of you! For those of you that are new to PCS, allow me to introduce myself. I am a career changer who started professionally in finance and have been in the field of education since 2010. I spent a year teaching in Chicago and then moved to St. Louis and have been at PCS since 2011. I was a Middle School Social Studies teacher for 5 years, I was the Elementary Assistant Principal for 6 years and am excited to lead in my second year as the Elementary School Principal. I am a proud Hoosier! I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Political Science and I hold a Masters of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University-Chicago as well as a Masters of Education in Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I was born in the Chicagoland area and I do bring my fandom of those sports teams! I enjoy my free time with my wife Natalie, my two sons Charlie (11) and Sam (8), and our dog Finlay. My boys enjoy playing baseball and fishing. My family spent some time in Michigan this summer.

I encourage you to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns and hold me accountable to making the school great. I can be reached at 314-645-9600, ext. 610 or at tstrickler@premiercharterschool.org

Contacting your teacher

The easiest ways to communicate with your child’s teacher are via his or her school email address, or by leaving a voicemail message through their phone extension. Staff email addresses are: firstnameinitiallastname@premiercharterschool.org. A directory of staff email addresses may also be found on the school’s website.

You may email or call your child’s teacher. Typically, specific days are scheduled for teacher conferences at the end of the first and third quarter, but you may request a conference as needs arise anytime throughout the school year. Please note that these need to be scheduled with the teacher prior to meeting as unscheduled meetings cannot happen during the day because of the busy daily schedules of teachers.

Important Announcements

At arrival time for the Elementary Building we are asking families to let their kids walk in on their own. You are able to enter the front to discuss something with the office or nurse, but to empower our kids to navigate their building while also alleviating congestion, we ask that you no longer walk your student to the cafeteria or classroom.

We are also asking that families not bring dogs to school. We are a very crowded campus, and we'd like to keep the traffic to humans!

Fundraiser

PCS will be partnering with TJ's Pizza this fall for a fundraiser. All order forms are due back with payments to PCS by September 19th. Please see the attachment for more details. Click here for order form
