Early Childhood Newsletter - September 13th, 2021

Hello PCS Families!

We want to officially welcome everyone to the 2021-2022 school year!  It has been such a  pleasure to meet and welcome so many families back to school!  If we have not met yet, I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Jodi Huber and I have been at PCS since 2003.  I taught 1st grade for nine years and then moved into the assistant principal role for 8 years.  This is my first year as the Principal of Early Childhood (Kindergarten and First Grade).  I love the Premier Charter School community and feel honored every day to be serving the most amazing children!

My name is Mary George, I am the head of the Pre-K program.  I have worked at PCS since we first opened in 2000.  I have taught Kindergarten, started our school library, and have worked as a coach in our coaching program.  I have met many of you on school tours and at open houses because I also help with the enrollment of our Early Childhood building.  I agree with Mrs. Huber that we have such an amazing community and it is always such a pleasure to get to know you, the parents, as we build our partnership to support your children.

We have had an amazing start to the school year!  It has felt so incredible to have all of our students back in the building.  We have been so impressed with how quickly our students have settled into the routine of school.

Our goals for the Early Childhood program this year are that our students create a strong social and emotional foundation, but also foster their curiosity of learning.  Children will be seen as thinkers, researchers, and problem solvers.  These ideals will be supported through the use of Project-Based Learning.  We are excited to continue to share with you your child’s learning experiences throughout the year!

A few reminders:

AM Drop Off:  For drop off in the morning; as your child gets more comfortable walking to their classroom we encourage you to take advantage of the drop off circle in the morning!  We have several staff members outside ready to help your child out of the car and direct them to their classroom. We also have staff inside that can help students find their way once in the building. Please remember when using the drop-off circle to please stay in your car.  If you would like to help your child out of the car or get bookbags out of the trunk we ask that you park in the lot.    One more reminder when crossing the parking lot in the morning and afternoon please use the crosswalk and wait until you are directed to cross.  We want to make sure everyone is safe when moving through the parking lot.  We appreciate your patience and help during drop off and pick up each morning!

School Hours: We also want to remind families that the school day begins at 8:15.  When arriving at school after 8:15 your child is considered tardy.  Your child will need to stop by the office to get a tardy slip before heading to class.

Illness: If your child is not feeling well and is presenting any symptoms even if you think that they are mild, please do not send them to school.  We want to ensure that we are keeping everyone safe.

Have a wonderful week!  If you have any questions, need to discuss a matter, or simply need a check in...our door is always open!  Please feel free to contact us via phone or email.
