Meet Sabrina, Our New Four-Legged Team Member πΎ
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We are thrilled to announce that Premier Charter School has received a facility dog for our students, staff, and families to love. Sabrina is a three-year-old Labrador Retriever, professionally trained and certified through Duo Dogs, Inc. She will be working on campus, in all three buildings on a daily basis under the supervision of three PCS staff certified handlers: Mrs. Christy Victor (Middle School Reading Specialist), whom she primarily lives with, Mrs. Meghan Batson (Instructional Coach), and Mrs. Martha Gray (Lead Therapist).
Sabrina is a member of Duo Dogs, Inc. (www.duodogs.org). Her handlers have received intense training with Sabrina, and will continue to train and re-certify regularly with Duo Dogs, Inc. Sabrina will be at school primarily working with kids in classrooms, therapy sessions, and reading groups. She will be on a leash and with one of her handlers at all times, sitting with students as they read books, offering comfort and non-judgmental love, and teaching us about unconditional love.
Sabrina visits a veterinarian regularly and has received all necessary vaccinations. She receives preventative medicine for heartworm, fleas, and ticks monthly, and is bathed and groomed regularly to maintain cleanliness. PCS nurses will notify the handlers of any student allergies.
We are excited for this opportunity and the positive impact Sabrina will have on our school and student body. To follow Sabrinaβs impact, there will be pictures posted on the school website as well as on her instagram account, @pcs.sabrina.
At the start of the 2021 school year, students will watch a presentation about how to appropriately approach, pet, and interact with Sabrina to ensure that everyone is comfortable.
If you have any individual questions or concerns, or wish to opt out, please do not hesitate to speak to one of her handlers:

Dogs teach children patience β they do not always do as they are told first time!
Dogs teach children compassion β just like us, dogs feel pain and emotion.
Dogs teach children about socialization β by the children learning how to interact with a dog, they can better learn how to socialize with other children.
Dogs are fun β they greet you with a wagging tail every day and put a smile on your face, even on a bad day.
Dogs show love- Sabrina can and will provide a loving pet and snuggle when we are in need.
