Before and Aftercare Recreation Leader

Premier Charter School is seeking dependable, dedicated individuals to serve as Recreation Leaders responsible for the direct supervision of children in the Before & After Care Program. The program vision is to empower the curious learner through a focused enrichment program that includes academic support, project-based learning, and personal development opportunities.
Premier Charter School is a public charter school in the city of Saint Louis that serves students from Pre-Kindergarten-8th grades. The first charter school operating in the city of St. Louis, Premier Charter School is focused on building both a strong academic foundation and the social-emotional skills needed for students to succeed in high school and beyond. At PCS, we develop curious and empowered learners through whole child development and research-based practices such as Project Based Learning.
Schedule: The extended school program hours are Monday – Friday from 6:00 am – 8:15 am and 3:25 pm – 6:00 pm. Employees are scheduled to begin their work shift 15 minutes prior to the start of the extended school session. Programming follows the PCS calendar and runs from August – May.
The Recreation Leader works with the BAC Director and Assistant Director at an assigned location on campus to assist in facilitating extended school programming. The individual must demonstrate and promote our graduate aims, be flexible, have a sincere interest in working with children, and must be reliable and dependable to work scheduled hours.
Typical duties include:
• Implement education and recreational activities, such as STEAM/Arts Integrated projects, sports, cooking, gardening, drama, music, etc. for school-age children (grades PK-8)
• Monitor children activities to ensure a safe and fun environment; follow procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children
• Assist with student disciplinary problems according to established policy
• Assure all equipment, games and supplies are returned to appropriate storage areas
• Planning, organizing, and conducting activities and special events
• Ability to lead group recreational & educational activities for children
• Ability to engage with both parents and children
• Ability to maintain positive, effective working relationships
• Must be able to work one or both shifts M - F
Assistant Site Director
Applicants for the Assistant Site Director position should have college course work in a child-related field, or a high school diploma plus 2 years experience with school age children. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the development and implementation of the daily program
Assisting in providing leadership and guidance to program staff
Insuring a positive working relationship with parents and the school site
Assisting in the administrative functions of the program
Serving as supervisor on-site in the absence of the Site Director
Attending workshops and trainings to continually enhance program growth
Planning, organizing, and conducting, activities, and special events
Hours: 6:00-8:15 AM / 3:00 - 6:00 PM
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
Recreation Leader
Applicants for the Recreation Leader position should have a high school diploma and experience with school age children, possibly through camp counseling, field experience, or babysitting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the development and implementation of the daily program
Maintaining regular and positive communication with parents
Assisting in the administrative functions of the program
Planning, organizing, and conducting activities and special events
Hours: 6:00-8:15 AM and/or 3:15 - 6:00 PM on school days
Compensation: $13.00 per hour
Recreation Leader - High School
Applicants for the Recreation Leader - High School position should be juniors or seniors and have experience with school age children, possibly through camp counseling, tutoring, or babysitting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in the implementation of the daily program
Organizing and conducting activities
Hours: 3:00- 6:00 PM on school days
Compensation: $12.00 per hour
